Hey all, i have been racking my brains against the proverbial wall here and i placed a call to G.Skill support last week but still find myself in the same boat. I am trying to run 128 Gig of G.Skill Trident Z Royal (4x32) at 3600 XMP but i have not been able to get stable at all. I know im asking alot of the system. but i was told this would be possible and albeit pretty easy infact by support.
I have tried XMP 2.0 (which is 16-22-22-42-64 @ 1.45V) and I boot just fine but under stress and load im crashing out in games and can not get prime 95 or meatiest stable. I had a little better luck pushing the voltage to 1.5V but still, not stable. I have been messing with this now for 9 hours (Just Today alone). Now, i believe i have gotten stability at 3000mhz, but with loose timings (up in the 22-28-28-28-50 range), and i don't find that acceptable. I would like just to mention this is on a Ryzen 9, Water-cooled, Just PBO overclocked (not core clocked or anything) and the Motherboard is up to the latest bios revision right now F34D I believe.
The RYzen boards have SO many options for power and such to choose from and i don't want to push the proverbial limits faster then i should, so im a bit weary in pumping too much volts into the system. I dunno where else to turn.. I feel the older bios's were more stable, and i didn't have issues on them, now this new "Capsule" bios makes it that you can't revert back due to some serious security flaws found.
I appreciate any thoughts and help. I know getting 128 Gig isn't easy and stresses the hell out of the memory controller, but this is my 2nd Machine with 128 Gig in it, the previous one had Corsair Dominators at 3200 Mhz and it ran just fine (tho it was an i7 Intel).
Right now, this last test i just ran, again at XMP, running 1.45V on the ram, The Prime95 Large FFT Test lasted 9 mins before it crashed out. I have the SOC pumped to 1.2, even nested with adding voyage to COU VDD18, VDDP etc, just a little to try to gain stability, and so far no luck at all. System Memory Multiplier is at 36.00 with an FCLK at 1800 for 1:1.. I am on the border line of tossing this ram and going with a different set..
Now sure, 3000Mhz is nothing to scoff at, but i built this rig to be the best and im not gonna just settle for 3000 mhm when these puppies should be able to slam 3600..
