  • ASUS P8Z68 deluxe/GEN3 and G.SKILL Ripjaws (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 F3-12800CL7Q-16GBZM

I'm sure there are a few posts already concerning this type of issue but I didn't want to hijack anyone else's thread. Maybe there is something a bit different with my specific build.

I bought this ram to use with Asus p8z68 deluxe/gen3 and I seem to be having some troubles. If anyone would care to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
    The ram is G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7Q-16GBZM

for a few weeks all seemed fine. Asus p8z68 deluxe/gen3 now only sees 8 GB @ 1333 mhz. I've tried everything I can think of. Tried manually adjusting setting, using XMP settings, memory mapping on/off, clearing CMOS
reseating ram, checking for bent cpu pins and reseating the cpu etc. Also checked to make sure the heatsink bracket was not making contact with the case.

I successfully booted with each DIMM in slot A2. I have then booted with slots A2 and B2 populated with each of the sticks. But, when I try using slots A1 and B1, The Dimms don't
seem to be recognized. This Ram defaults to 1333 mhz but shouldn't the 3304 BIOS with a I7 3770K run this ram at 1600mhz, natively ?
I can get the 2 to run @ 1600 manually but definitely wont see the other 2 dimms on main BIOS page or in win 7.
The SPD info page of BIOS and in AI suite II sees all 4 dimms as does memtest and cpuZ. ran memtest overnight without errors.

the only way to get bios to see the 8 gigs @ 1600 is to manually adjust the timings to 7-9-9-25-32 and 1.5 dram voltage.
I got these numbers from CPU-Z. The standard XMP profile of 7-8-8-24-32 from BIOS does not work. (comp continuosly reboots before post or dead posts to blank screen)
I was having this issue when I was on BIOS v3202 and I was hoping updating it would help, but no luck.

Like I mentioned earlier, all 4 slots are seen as populated in bios spd page and in CPUZ spd tab. what strikes me as odd is that in the CPUZ memory tab the timings are listed as:

    DRAM Frequency - 686.9MHz
    FSBRAM - 1:5
    CAS# Latency(CL) - 7.0 clocks
    RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) - 8 clocks
    RAS# Precharge (tRP) - 8 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) - 24 clocks
    Command Rate (CR) 2T

    this is my setup ( It's a new build ) ...

    ASUS P8Z68 deluxe/GEN3 BIOS 3304
    Intel I7 3770k
ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise Blue LED CPU Cooler
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7Q-16GBZM
    OCZ Vertex 4 128 GB
    OCZ Fatal1ty 750w PSU
    Sapphire Radeon HD6870

I really appreciate any help or advice you can give me to get this sorted.

    thanks

Check that you have the latest BIOS, enable XMP select 1600 and give it a go - if any problems check and let us know what base timings it sets at and your system voltages vCore, VCCSA VCCIO or CPUVTT, DRAM voltage etc

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:
