  • F3-12800CL9Q-8GBRL at 1600 on ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n

Will the F3-12800CL9Q-8GBRL (4 x 2GB) kit support the advertised 1600 frequency on an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n motherboard? I can only get them to clock at 1333, which I had to explicitly set in BIOS with XMP enabled, otherwise I would get the "overclocking failure" since XMP was trying the 1600 frequency. These run on auto at 1066 as well.

My motherboard manual states "to obtain the best performance of the X.M.P. 1600 DIMM, install only one DIMM on each memory channel" and CPU-Z says my motherboard only has Dual channels plus there is a graphic in the manual showing all 4/4 slots filled with 1333 but only 2/4 filled with 1600 on the different channels so at first glance this doesn't seem possible.

If you have the magic formula for timings, frequencies, and voltages I would greatly appreciate the help.

    Thanks!

Your best bet for all 4 sticks may be to run at 1333 8-8-8-24 2N. To run them on a 775 mobo at 1600, will require the FSB at prob about a min of 1600-1650, more voltage to the NB, the DRAM and the CPU....and even then may still have problems hitting 1600 with all four sticks and might further require raising CL to 10. With 1333/CL8 you would be at near 1600/CL9 performance

Glad to hear it, if you try for 1600 let us know how it goes and make sure you keep a note of your current settings for fallback

Now running without issue at 1600 9-9-9-24 2N 1.5 with "FSB Strap to North Bridge" set to 400MHz (this FSB setting did the trick because otherwise the DRAM Frequency was at 1603).
