  • ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 compatible kits?

    Looking for upgrade advice for-
    ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 motherboard

Not sure if I want to max the board out at 16GB or just get 8GB.

    Current RAM I have installed-
    G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO

    Processor is-
    AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Desktop Processor - C3 Revision HDZ555WFGMBOX currently unlocked to 3 cores.

After researching Newegg reviews, I have seen claims that these G.Skill RAMs work on this board
    • 16 gig G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 240-Pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
    • 4GBx4- GSKILL F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL
    • two sets of g.skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

    2 things

    1. Do the kits listed above generally work, or can you recommend additional-
    16GB (4x4GB) kit(s)
    and
    8 GB (2x4GB) kit(s)

    2. Now I know that is not recommended, but would it be possible to install this-
    Sniper Ram Model #:F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2 (2x4GB)
alongside my current RAM. If it doesn't work with the stuff I have installed now I could always remove it and sell the old stuff online.

On the low voltage Snipers you could give it a try, regardless would have 8GB, if going for a straight 8GB set that you could possibly add to in the future think I'd suggest the 1.5 Snipers in 1333 F3-10666CL9D-8GBSR or if looking for a 16GB set I'd maybe get the 16GB 1600 Snipers, F3-12800CL9Q-16GBSR, to be hnest they prob won't run at 1600 w/ your CPU, but can run at default on your mobo, which would be 1333/CL9 and then could prob tighten down to 8-8-8-24 for improved performance. An extra in this selection would be if you upgrade the CPU you could run them at 1600 or depending on the CPU even OC them to 1866 (the Snipers OC well, they are may favorite line of sticks)

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Low voltage can work, but you may need to use ~1.40V.

      For 16GB, a 16GB kit is recommended.

      F3-10666CL9Q-16GBXL

      F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL

      etc

But like Tman said, with that CPU, you will probably be limited to DDR3-1333. With a low timing, it will be perfect until you upgrade CPU (if you do).

      Thank you
