    I currently have 4GB (2x2 model F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL)

I am wanting to upgrade to 8GB or possibly 16GB. Would I be better off getting another set of F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL or going to a 2x4GB kit? If so can I get some recommendations on model numbers. The ASUS QVL list seems really out of date.

    my specs are

    ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition
    gskill F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL 4GB RAM

Mixing sets can be problematic, even of the same model and especially w/ AMD, so I'd suggest a 2x4GB set, with only 2 sticks there would be less stress on the MC (memory controller). What you might do would be try the F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL set, ehich would give you 8GB in the primary slots and then could try adding your current sticks in the secondary slots which might kick you up to to 12GB, no guarantee it will work, but have done this on your mobo using the latest BIOS and upping the DRAM and CPU/NB voltages
