A help with ddr3 Sniper kit @1600 MhZ

Hi there guys,as title said i need some advice regarding that memory module kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR (1.5 V), DDR3 1600MHz, kit 2x4GB ) i just bought together with new motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 ).Here are screenshots of specs :







Noticed in BIOS that memory runs at 1333 Mhz,is it possibly to make it run steadily on default 1600 Mhz without taking chances to burn my motherboard or cpu down?
Could i simply apply those settings from this thread :

Or my choice of memory modules for that motherboard wasn't best choice? Any opinion is appreciated.

Edit: cooling cpu isn't problem,i have watercooler from Corsair H80 mounted.

Yes those setting should work well for you. Setting the RAM frequency, volts, and timings manually is about the only way to get 1600 stable with an AMD platform.
You will use the first method since you have a non black Edition CPU.

Thanks for info Britton30,i followed those settings as stated in that thread but there problems started....i was able to succesfully boot my system but then after short period of time (30 min. maybe ) my PC crashed.Back into BIOS, set up all on default but system wouldn't boot into Windows.I was able to get into BIOS but not further untill i cleared CMOS by removing battery on board.And my PC is running on default settings but not stable,BSOD's after some time of running even on idle.I suspect on faulty board.So i guess more testing is ahead of me now...

You could try a little extra DRAM voltage (+ .05) and a bit more to the CPU/NB but it will get hotter, and no guarantee the system will be stable, your 945 generally can't carry 1600 stick, I normally recommend at least a 965 for 1600. Prob better off at 1333

Thx for tip Tradesman..i guess i'll have to stick to 1333 MhZ ...sigh...i failed at doing homework for Phenom II 945<=> memory relation....obviously....

Happens to many, most look at the DRAM that's out there and want faster, but AMD is known for having weak MCs (memory controllers), their latest CPUs the FX series are capable of 1866 but only 1 DIMM per channel (2 total) and are actually native 1333....and sadly they aren't like Intel, that have numerous CPUs that are native 1333 but easily run 4 sticks at 2133 and better, the newest INtel CPUs can run 2400 and are suppose to be able to run 2800 (when it gets here).

Allright,i finally pinpointed my problem...it was 1 corrupted stick from that kit....tested with memtest86 and give shizload of errors on that one......taking it tomorrow for a replacement...hopefully....thx for answers Tradesman...

Allright,bad kit replaced yesterday and after running all night at default settings no problems detected...next step is to reach @1600 in next few days...could you explain please why in your opinion 945 can't take DDR3 1600 , Tradesman...?Thx.

The CPU MC (memory controller), AMD has for years been trying to gain market share on Intel, and their primary way of doing so is trying with CPUs that show a good clock rate at low price, but (in my opinion) sadly they skimp on things like the MC. Their current top of the line BullDozer series, has the FX-8150 at the top and per their spec, they can run up to 2 sticks of 1866 (which is fairly accurate, I had and have seen some run 4 sticks (16 GB) at 1866, but that's about it) and this has long been a problem, many CPUs have been released that were were advertised to run a certain speed, but they generally fail to say the 1 stick per channel or 2 sticks total). From my experience, while keeping voltage and heat reasonable, the C3 965 is about the entry level for 1600 DRAM and better. Then you look at Intel and they have CPUs that have been running up to 2133 with 4 sticks or even 6 for a long time now and have come out with ones that will run 8 sticks even faster, 2500 and expected 2800 when they are out

As i promised here is how all looks now....so far stable,at least i could boot properly...not sure if i'll have enough time to run some stability tests but if it's stable in newest games (e.g. Battlefield 3) IMHO it's job done...\o/.
