  • Will my Computer recognize this memory?

Model of the motherboard: Standard motherboard that comes with HP Pavilion g6 (I don't know how to check)
Model of the memory: Not sure but its 3GB. (pretty sure its whatever the standard memory is for an HP Pavilion g6)
Model of the CPU: Intel Pentium(R) CPU P6200 @2.13 GHZ

The RAM that I want to put in this computer can be found: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231295

    Its G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ

Currently my Laptop is pretty crap when it comes to gaming and at times can be rather slow to load pages etc...

I am looking for some RAM that I can use to replace my obviously **** RAM that will make my computer faster (especially for gaming).

    My Question is: Will the proposed memory (G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ) work to fulfill my desires??

    thanks a bunch!

note: My computer currently scores a 4.0 on the Windows Experience Index (due to graphics) (the memory scores a 5.5)

Your laptop should recognize that memory just fine, however it's doubtful that it will do much of anything to improve gaming performance. The reason being that most gaming requires a powerful dedicated GPU (graphics processing unit or simply "graphics card") that a budget laptop meant for basic office and student work such as yours does not have. If I were you and were looking to improve overall system responsiveness I would backup my data, wipe the hard drive and install an OEM copy of the version of Windows your machine is licenced for and activate it using the product key sticker on your machine. Then install all the drivers from the HP website that pertain to your model (audio, chipset, graphics, keyboard mouse and input devices, network, and storage). Then disable Aero and use windows classic theme, right click my computer, advanced system settings, advanced tab, visual effects and uncheck everything except maybe show thumbnails instead of icons and use drop shadows for icons and hit apply. Thats about as good as you could get.

That's just the way I do all m machines, and they're all very, very fast..

Would it just be easier to install a "better" GPU? For like 100$ I could probably get a GTX 540 that would be sufficient for the games I was thinking of. Now I'm not a hard core gamer IE Crysis in Ultra or whatever. But I might play MW3 or Runescape in HD and I just want my laptop to do that without lagging.

      Thoughts?

edit: I also just came across this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231472 which is another type of Laptop Memory from G.Skill that looks like it will run better.. It will cost about 10$ more, is it worth it?

      for those who didn't want to click the link or whatever: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSQ

      so: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSQ VS. G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ

The 1333 model comes with a 4GB flashcard as well for (39.99) and the 1600 (49.99) comes with nothing. Both free shipping. Thoughts?
