  • RAM recommendation for my PC

Hello, please forgive for my horribly english I'm looking for RAM and I have realized I made a bad choice when I decided to AMD rather than Intel, it is very difficult to find good RAM for AMD, especially above 1600, so here I am for help.

I have an Asus Crosshair Formula IV motherboard (BIOS updated to newest version, the 2002) With A CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (RB - C3) and I would like to put a RAM of 1866 Mhz. Is this possible? What memory G. Skill product would work well on my pc at 1866 MHz? I'm considering these two models:

I'm on the right way? Will I have to do Bios tweaks to make them work stably at 1866 Mhz?

Thanks for reading me, I hope for your answers

With the 965-C3 either set should work....and it will definitely take some tweaking and adjustments to the BIOS settings....further to run them at 1866, at best with the default timings, it may well build up a lot of heat, so your ventilation and cooling plays into the equation as does the mobo and it's BIOS. The problem primarily is the weak MC (Memory controller) in AMD CPUs when it comes to high freq (speed) DRAM. Many often have problems even running 1600 sticks, so you may be relegated to running the sticks at 1600 if you get them. If you get a set and have problems, give us a yell and we'll be here to try and help.

Thank you for your quick answer ! I think i will bought the Sniper's. I founded this thread wich can be very useful to me:

?Could I apply this process to the ripjaws, considering that technical specifications are almost identical? I have read that the ripjaws offers a little bit more perfomance, is that true?

Pretty much so, keep in mind, that I'm not GSkill, I'm a consultant/builder, but performance wise both are good, I myself lean a little bit more to the Snipers, and use them in a couple of my systems, to me they have a little more versatility (then again, I've also got Ripjaws in a couple systems, but my primary two both run Snipers.
