  • quad or dual channel issues

    Good day.

I have the following system and please need advice on memory purchased.

    I7 2600k
    ASUS Maximus iv
    2 x ocz 240gb ssd in raid
    MSI 580 GTX lightning ockd

I ordered 16mb gskill 17000cl11d 16GBXL mem. Wasnt sure if tgis would be the fastest, after doing research have learned it isnt.

    Supplier sent me 2 x 4mb packs x 2.. 17000cl11d 8GBXL.

MY questions are as follows. I ordered the quad's as they matched and i want good reliable.performance. with the two separate sets what guarantee do i have they will work well together?

Should i send back and insist on the quad or 4 sticks matched?

Was this model.of mem the best choice given my system specs and that i am shooting for big performance?

    Thanking you in advance

With two sets, there's no guarantee they will work together (especially with the higher freq sticks like 1866, 2000, 2133, 2400) so I'd see if they'll replace it with a 4 sticks set, that way they are tested to work together, and should work under under XMP, where as 2 sets won't allow you to use XMP. If you try the sticks together will prob have to raise DRAM voltage .05 or so and VCCIO (or CPU/VTT the MC (Memory Controller)) voltage .07 or maybe a little more.
