  • G.SKILL Sniper Gaming Series BSOD, Failed Memtest.

    Hello,

I've recently installed this memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231464

    Model: F3-12800CL9T-12GBSR

    Motherboard: EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI
    Processor: i7 920
Video Card(s): 2x 5870s in Crossfire (Currently running only one card.)

I was getting multiple BSOD errors (Page fault in nonpaged area.) I decided to download memtest and check the memory that way. After trying custom clock settings and the XMP profiles, I am still failing to run a successful memtest.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've spent a few hours messing with this, and am really starting to get frustrated.

    Thank you for your time!

Do you have the latest BIOS?

    Try inputting settings manually.
    DRAM frequency - DDR3-1600
    DRAM Timings - tCL 9 - tRCD 9 - tRP 9 - tRAS 24
    DRAM Voltage - 1.50V

If you can, post pictures of the BIOS after you restart with these settings (if you have problems).

Another user had the same issue, and I remember the advanced sub timings were not being detected correctly, so I want to see if that is the same for your case.

Don't get frustrated! We'll make it work!

    Thank you

I do have the latest BIOS.

I just tried to input the settings manually, still failing memtest almost instantly with them.

Here are the BIOS screenshots that you requested:

Looks like timings are OK, test one module at a time to see if one may be bad causing problems.

Which slots do you have them installed in?

You can also try these setting changes:

        Command Rate 2T
        tRRD 6
        tRTP 7

Other than that, the other timings are all spot on, so one module may be bad causing an issue. :/

        Thank you

The good news, is that I got the timings to work just fine.

The bad news, is that one of my three sticks is bad.

The ugly news, is that these are the only sticks of memory that I have, so an RMA would leave me computerless for a while.

Thank you very much for all of the help that you have given me. At least I know that my setup is fine, it's just the one stick that is shot...

Do you know if there's any way that I could send just the one back, and get a replacement for it. That way I can continue to use my computer with the other two sticks?

They prob would, but will have to work through the RMA folks, can find some basic info here:

            http://www.gskill.com/rma.php

then would want to contact them direct at rma@gskillusa.com

they are good with turn around, the new sticks generally go out the day after they get them in, then say shipping to Jersey would prob be 4-5 days...maybe quicker since they're using more trucks and air shipping than usual

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:
