  • Difference between GBXL and GBRL

I have a simple, possibly silly, question I cant find the answer to on the G.skill website.

I am building a system with

ASUS P8Z68-V LGA 1155 Intel Z68 or ASUS P8Z68-V PRO motherboard

    Intel i5 2500k processor

OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    RipjawsX F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

I plan on using the one touch overclock button on the motherbard but no other tweaks.

I see a sale on the RipjawsX F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL memory.

The specs I can find seem to show the GBXL and the GBRL as identical but obviously there must be a difference.

My question is will mixing these different models cause me any problems?

    Thank you.

The Ripjaws X models were designed for the newer line (next gen) CPUs and in particular w/ the P67/Z68/H67 chipsets in mind, the regular Ripjaws lean more towords the P55 gen and older.....may also have noticed the even newer Ripjaws Z sticks out which are designed with the socket 2011/X79 chipset...all of which should be fine with the Z68 mobo
