  • ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z

    Hi

I am looking at building a new PC based around an i5 2500K on an ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z board. It will mainly be used for Photoshop/Lightroom, running VMs for software dev, and playing the odd MMO (currently LOTRO). Can anyone offer advice on the best G.Skill memory to complement this and what I should be looking at in terms of speeds and latencies?

    Thanks

    Alan

Depending on how heavy the work will be with Photoshop and the VMs I'd look to 8 or more GB, maybe starting at 1866 CL9 or better

Thanks. I should have mentioned I plan to install 16GB. Is the 1866 CL89 better than the 1600 CL7? The ASUS site only lists the follwoing as supporting 4x4Gb F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH.

        1866 CL8 is roughly equivalent to 1600 CL7, and 16GB is a good choice
