    i currenly and running 8 gigs

    and new egg has the ripjaws x on sale, and thinking about upgrading to it.

    My board is a asus, (am work and forget the exact model), but running a x6 3.0.
    and have the extra extra 2 slots of ram. Only difference is the timing with the current set is 9-9-9-24 2n... would the x set work ok as dual channel 16 gigs?

    If your thinking of mixing the sets together, chances are good they will (may take some voltages adjustments), but then again they may not want to play together, the regular Ripjaws and the Ripjaws X models are entirely different lines of DRAM with the X series programmed/geared more to the newer generation of chipsets and CPUs, if you want to add a set of 8GB best bet would be to try using the same model you currently have, and even then there is not a guarantee they will play, may have to make some adjustments there also
