  • 990FXA-UD5 and 1866 DDR3+ AMD 1100T

Hello as mentioned in title I have built this system and bought the G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR from Newegg.

OK here is the deal I am not a tweaker or overclocker so the knowledge is pretty much a zero to tweak the ram to do the 1866 I have managed to see it doing 1600 but I do like it to do as advertised.... Is there any help for me?

    rundown of system:
OS: Win 7 Pro 64 bit
Processor: AMD Phenom ii x6 1100T
Ram: 8GB DDR3 1866 Gskill Sniper doubling in few day to 16 GB
    MotherBoard: Gigabyte 990fXa-UD5

ok thanks in advance for any assistance you may give me in tweaking this to at least advertised specs.

Hello, you will need to set your CPU clock (or known as FSB) to 233MHz to achieve 1866.
But keep in mind that this will also increase your CPU, CPU/NB, and HT Link frequencies as well.
Since your 1100T is a Black Edirion, adjust your CPU multiplier to the desired CPU speed/frequency.
Then, you will need to set the CPU/NB frequency in the 2800MHz range to match your 1866 memory speed.
The HT Link does not (or need) to be overclocked, keep it in the 2000-2200 range.

Don't forget to manually enter you memory timings and voltage in your bios.
