  • Adding memory sticks of different density?

    Hello,

Got a question because since the prices for sticks is falling, i would want to add 4-8 GB to my rig.

So, i want to know if it would work to add a 8GB kit in dual channel while i already use a 4GB kit? Will it cause any problem?

I would have 10GB that way.

    My rig:

    -2500k
    -Z68A-GD65
    -4GB Gskill Ripjaws X 1600 cas 8 ( F3-12800CL8D-4GBXM )
    -Cooler master V8

    Thanks in advance!

That is something you will need to test to find out. Generally dual channel should use the exact type of memory, but it is possible for it to work with one kit in each channel.

    Thank you
