Hello, I have been having freezing problems for a while now(swapped out video cards and still freezing). I have run memtest86+ for 12 hours with no errors. I want to make sure I have the timing and voltage set correctly as I am a newbie in BIOS land.
    Thanks

What power supply are you using? Also, disclose whether you're overclocking on your AM3-based machine or not. Try editing your signature in this fashion:

    CPU (whether stock or OC'd)
Motherboard Make (GD70 or GD65?? model from MSI)
RAM (already disclosed that, no problems there)
Graphics card (make, manufacturer, whether stock or OC'd)
Power Supply Unit (manufacturer, model, wattage)
Case/chassis (intake/exhause DOES matter as some think it doesn't for reasons unfathomable)

Power Supply units (faulty) often do supply the power needed but have frequent hiccups, making the user feel as if other hardware is at fault. I learned this the hard way almost 4 years ago when I had purchased a faulty Cooler Master RealPower Pro 1250W unit I had to RMA.

Try swapping power supplies with a friend's (even if it's not a 850W). Only thing I'm trying to help you determine is trying to find out if your PSU is faulty. The Corsair TX850 is actually made by seasonic (very very good brand of PSU) and I'd hate to find out if mine was faulty. Without the memory giving you any errors in memtest86+ it's hard to blame the memory at all. Also, before swapping PSU's increase the voltage on the memory a little bit, maybe by two notches see if the freezing stops. By keeping things stock for stability as said before it's hard to blame any component on your computer besides the PSU.

The Corsair TX850W would be the last component what I would suspect, it's a great unit.
Have you updated your bios lately and cleared the CMOS after doing so?
Have you manually entered your memory frequency, timings, and voltage in the bios?
Try switching the sticks to the other dual channel dimm.
And it's always best to run memtest on each stick individually.

I don't have another PSU handy. I have updated bios to F6 as gigabyte suggests but haven't cleared cmos manually on the board recently. I tried manually setting the timing and voltage and thought I had it stable but it froze again. Not sure if I am setting it right, the dual channel would by the other 2 dimm's right ? right now I have them in the 2 closest to the CPU.

Make sure you have the CR at 2N (or 2T if it shows as T), ensure you have the latest BIOS, else try the other two slots, if no go, add .05 to the DRAM voltage, still no, add .05 to the CPU/NB. Still problems, could you post your BIOS settings? particularly voltage settings.

                  my +12V is at 12.365

hope this helps and thank you )

I also switched the RAM from the first and second to the second and fourth slot from the PCU I guess this would now be in dual channel right?

glad to hear you've got things stable. Also, when you update the BIOS on the motherboard, it doesn't save those previous settings, so you don't have to clear CMOS right after updating.
