  • please help some ram now showing 1600

i got 12 gigs ddr3 1600. motherboard is asus m4a79t deluxe. in the 2 orange slots are a 2x (4gb) ,in the 2 black slots 2x(2gb). orange slots read 1600 with there rated timings of 9-9-9-24, the black slots are at 1333 with 8-8-8-24. all i set was the dram frequency in the bios to 1600 and changed the timing setting to 9-9-9-24.

why arent all my ram at 1600 ??

You should have a bios option to set the memory controller to DCT 0, DCT 1, or both.
Set it to both, then enter the 9-9-9-24 timings for each memory controller.
1600 MHz will probably require a CPU clock (FSB) of 225MHz, depending upon the board.
This will then allow you to set your memory frequency to 1600MHz.

Like I said before, 1600MHz can only be achieved by overclocking the CPU clock.
Auto means that it's running at 200MHz, thus 1333MHz memory speed.
You will need to increase your CPU clock to 225MHz for your memory to run at 1600MHz.
Keep it mind, overclocking the CPU clock will also increase the CPU, NB, snd HT Link frequencies as well.

Then why do I achieve 1600 speeds on the first set of ram, but 1333 on the other? I deeply appreciate your help. But im lost.

i raised it to 225 but its the same thing. cpu z reads slot 1&2 1600 9-9-9-24 slot 2&3 1333 8-8-8-24. all my ram is 1600 so i dont understand why its not being seen as such.

btw 225 fsb does not give me 1600. neither does 240 as posted in the how to. it only displays 1600 when 250 is entered

OK, every board is different, but that's odd that 250 is needed to achieve 1600MHz.
Have you updated your bios lately and cleared the CMOS after doing so?
What memory timings are indicated in your bios?

yes i have the newest bios. 3303. and cmos cleared.

basically if i put in 225 the values where lower then 1333. so i stepped up higher and higher till 1333 appeared. 250 gave me 1600. its weird.

as of right now all i have is the dram frequency set to 1600. and maually put in the timings of 9-9-9-24. when i open cpuz. memory tab displays :

                          1600
                          9
                          9
                          9
                          24
                          40clocks
                          2t

but when i go over to the next tab spd slot 1&2 say they are 800mhz but slot 2&3 say 667. all with 9-9-9-24.

but when i got into everest says 1&2 1600 9-9-9-24
                          3&4 1333 8-8-8-24 .

The SPD tad just shows the memory profiles that are available with your particular kits.
The Memory tab shows the actual details about your current memory configuration.
lol, you're running 1600MHz with CL9 timings as you should be!!!

awesome, everest was throwing me off with the 8-8-8-24 timings ? do you know why it showed those timings as 1333 8-8-8-24 for slot 2&3 at 667 mhz?
