  • Problem with monitor

    Hi,
    I am assembling a new computer with new "G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL".
When i turn the power on, I get a beep code that sounds like 1 long beep followed by two short beeps.

I'm using 650 watt power supply with msi 870a-54 AM3 mobo and phenom II X4 955 black edition CPU.

Nothing appears to be showing up on my 21.5'' moitor.

I'm told that the beep code I'm getting means that i have to replace the ram cards. Do you recommend that i have these sent back to the manufacturer? Is there some way to determine for sure that the ram cards are faulty?

Test one at at time to see if they perform the same.

    Thank you

Yea, I tested them both independently, I'm still getting the same beeping error.

Do you have the latest BIOS? If yes, send them in for RMA to see if a new kit works better.

one short beep followed by two long beeps on an AMI BIOS indicates faulty memory. The Motherboard (when attempting to post) will cycle through the CPU, RAM, and the video card to see if all are working properly. However, your beep code description points to the RAM. I doubt a BIOS flash will fix your issue. Also, how is he able to flash the BIOS if he has no monitor signal? If you have different modules to test with, you'll be able to determine if RAM is the root cause.
