  • 2X4 8GB choices for Gigabyte 890

    Hi,
I am researching parts for another build for a friend.
Motherboard will probably be a Gigabyte 890GPA or possibly a 890FXA.
Processor will be either a PhenomII X4 or X6.
I am looking at either the F3-12800CL8D-8GBRM or the F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH sets.
Will the CL8D-8GBRM run well if downclocked to 1333 7-7-7-21 and would there be any advantage over the CL7D-8GBRH run at their stock (same) settings?
I want to stay at 1333 for stability and longevity. It is not a gaming rig.

Also, are the new Ripjaws X series any different besides the heat spreader redesign?

    Thank you,
    Steve.

Just get the 8GBRH, for that price it is no question.

The RipJaws X is for the P67, so it does not benefit this system.

    Thank you

Thank you for your help and the quick reply.
      Much appreciated.

Too bad about the X series, they are nicer looking imo.

You can get the XH too, but I just meant there is no performance gain over the RH.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought you meant they wouldn't work.
