  • Ram changing my cpu settings?

    Hello everyone!

    In new in this forums.

    So recently i just upgraded from a 1033 ddr3 corsair 2gig. to G-skill jipraws 1600 ddr3 8gigs in dual channel symmetric 2/4.

I have windows ultimate 64bit version so i knew i could.

But when i logged into cpuid to check if I had set then up correctly into dual channel, I noticed my cpu clock settings and multiplier is this normal? my multiplier was set to 7x5 when is normally at 8x5 and my clock speed when up?

    I have a quadcore 9550.

and my mobo is Asus Striker Extreme 775 lga.

Thanks to anybody who can help me as soon as possible,

    Since im a bit worried.

Looks like you have them linked (CPU and DRAM), which isn't a problem, but if you unlimk them in the bIOS then you can normally adjust to get best overall performance

Should be a selection in the BIOS around the CPU - DRAM area showing LINKED

          Ok,

          I searched around my bios,

and did find lots of DRAM related things but nothing saying "linked"

perhaps its under a different name,

all of it was set on auto.

Now if this thing isnt bad would i benefit from changing it?

It's under FSB - Memory Clock Mode options (Auto, Linked, Unlinked) want Unlinked

Ok, you have a newer BIOS than I have a manual for, guessing it is either under the AI Tweaker

FSB Strap to NorthBridge or CPU Ratio Settings

                  OK i checked those two

and they dont have anything like linked or unliked mode,

CPU ratio settings directly tells me to type a value into it.

and fsb to northbridge, has auto, and then 200mhz 300mhz and so on.

Ive checked the whole BIOS and every single little tab none of them have an option for link or unlink mode. They either have AUTO or ENABLED and DISABLED or some just have auto and numeric values.

Are we looking for the right thing here?

                  Thanks again!

Do you have the AI Overclock Tuner on AUTO? If so set to Manual, which will open up other options, should be on page 4-14 of the manual.

                      Hey there,

So i did as you told me and changed it to manual, and yes another option appeared called FSB frequency but again it was set with a numeric value and i could only choose between numbers no linked or unliked mode yet. I think it was 200mhz or 400mhz.

There was also an XMB option that said it will automatically set my cpu and ram settings under the AI overclock thing apart from the manual one.

                      Thanks!

I forgot to mentione when i set it to manual.

My cpu multiplier went back to normal 8x5, but my core clock is still OC to 3.4ghz

also those values inside FSB frequency when in normal mode were from 200-800

                        Thanks.

Hopefully GSkill will have some input, will investigate further and see if I can get on one of these mobos later today, might drop a line to ASUS (though I wouldn't hold my breath)
