  • F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM on Asus P7P55D-E LX

Hi. Newbie question, but i can't find the answer elsewhere.

I have F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM (2x2GB) on an Asus P7P55d-e LX board with an i5 760 processor.

The board sees the ram as ddr3-1333 ram. Does this ram require overclocking to obtain the ddr3-1600 speed? is there an adverse timing issue if the ram is overclocked but not the i5 760 cpu?

    Thanks for reading this question.

Yes, manual settings are required since the maximum default is DDR3-1333 CL9.

Also, "overclocking" is required since your i5 CPU only has a max memory multiplier of 10X. 133 x 10 is only DDR3-1333.

BCLK must be set to 160 for DDR3-1600. This will allow both the CPU and memory to be clocked correctly.

Luckily, the ASUS motherboard you have supports XMP. This will automatically set everything for you. So go into BIOS, under AI Overclock Tuner, set this to XMP Profile. F10, save and exit, everything should be smooth and up to speed.

    Thank you
