  • Gigabyte X58A UD3R and G.SKILL F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM Ripjaws PC3-12800

    Hello

I have 8GB of this RAM G.SKILL F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM Ripjaws PC3-12800 on a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard. The RAM is currently running at 1066. I assume I have to go into the BIOS and manually change the values. I've never done this and the bios gives a massive warning that I might accidently blow up my machine.

Anyway, I am sure it's a simple input of the values but I wanted to confirm.

I just don't know which channels correspond to which dims. Furthermore, what values go into what places.

    any help would be great!

    thanks in advance

Do you have revision 1.0 or revision 2.0 of that motherboard?
Are you running the latest BIOS?

If you're running the latest BIOS release, then select the M.I.T. option in the BIOS menu.

Scroll down to Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.) and change from [Disabled] to [Enabled] Save changes, exit BIOS and run Memtest.

You should be good to go - no worries.

I have revision two of that motherboard. I am also running version F of the bios.. If you enable it , then the mem test should run it fine?

Why are you running dual channel memory in a triple channel motherboard?

What's wrong with online shopping? For instance, newegg.com sells compatible GSkill triple channel kits.
