  • G.SKILL RipJaws DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Timings

    Hi, I built my brother a new system with these specs;

    Phenom II X2 555 BE
    AsRock 770 Extreme 3
    EVGA 9800GTX+
    G.SKILL Ripjaws4GB 2x2GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

I was having issues with the computer sometimes freezing hard (having to do a hard reboot each time)
And choppy gameply.. I first suspected my video card, lucky I had a EVGA 9800GTX+ from my other pc.
Swapped them out, and still had problems..

Then I read about how AMD were pretty strict on the amount of memory they can hold, but I didn't know that they were also strict on what speed.. So I looked it up and my proc runs @ max 1333mhz ...

So Now I'll need to change the from 1600 to 1333..
I know how to do that, but the problem is my brother moved away a week ago, and he has the machine.. I'd like to change the timings to be faster since I'm dropping the freq a bit.
    the default are 9-9-9-24-2N @ 1.5v
I don't want to raise the voltage.. and I don't want to fiddle around trying to get the best timings.. I just want some decent timings.. something that I know will work.. besides 9-9-9-24-2N

perhaps if anyone else had dropped their freq to 1333 and got faster timings stable..
Also what are the names for each number.. the first nine being CAS the next being? so on... just so I can help my brother through the BIOS.

    Thanks in advance!!

    DDR3-1333 use 8-8-8-24.

    tCL 8 - tRCD 8 - tRP 8 - tRAS 24

    That should work fine.

For DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24, you will also need to raise CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V

    Thank you
