  • problem with F3-14400CL7D-4GBFLS and 890FXA-GD70

    hello,

    i have:
    HX850
    890FXA-GD70
    1090T@stock with Vcpu 1.4 and Vcpu-nb 1.35
    F3-14400CL7D-4GBFLS (buy yesterday)
    5770

    when i set 7 8 7 24 2T, the system don't boot. and when i set 8 8 24 2T the system boot and i have a lot of erreur on memtest.

    thanks,
    mikl.

ps: my english is so bad.

Wait for administrator to reply but based on your issue posted I would blame the RAM. I have the SAME RAM and SAME MOTHERBOARD as you do and I'm running my ram at CL7-8-7-24-1T timings 1800 Mhz ddr3 1/3.33 multiplier in the BIOS with 266Mhz or something FSB. I would send it in for RMA for sure if your system can't boot even at 2T command rate as my sticks allow a much much more aggressive overclock. Sorry to hear your sticks aren't working up to par.

If you haven't edited voltages yet I suggest you should. Set the RAM to 1.65V in BIOS and also edit the CPU-NB VDD voltages to 1.11-1.12V for stability. See how that goes and let me know. The only things different I have than you are the video card, processor, and PSU. I'll double check my own settigns on the motherboard just to make sure my #s are correct.

        Hello,

I was referred the kit to my dealer (materiel.net) who has tested. he has found no problem and he referred me. I'm wait.

        thanks.

edit: perhaps it's a problem of voltage.

to Onslaught2k3: what software use to monitoring the voltage. when i set 1.688v in the bios, i have 1.673v with MSI Control Center and 1.74v with Hardware Monitor.

i actually don't use any monitoring program atm for the RAM voltages (I'm very sorry on that front) but the previous post I posted in this thread is correct with the settings in BIOS. You're going to want to scope out the XMP profile for your RAM sticks, record the timings in the profile, and manually set them through the Cell Menu in your 890FXA-GD70's BIOS. If that doesn't work, then the CPU-NB voltages may need to be tweaked a bit higher. Refrain from going too high as you carry the chance of shortening the life of your valuable components later on (instead of the system lasting 8-10 years without a hitch may only live for 5, per se, not precise of course).

You should try lower voltages, they are a tad bit too high for your frequencies.

with 1.65v, the system is stable at 800 8,8,8,24 and no stable at 900 8,8,8,24.
              he doesn't boot a cl7 whatever the frequency. :-(

the reason why the system won't boot is because the CPU-NB voltages aren't enough to power the processor to communicate at the stated latencies/frequencies. You haven't posted your own voltages for the CPU-NB VDD. Go back in to Cell menu in your bios and read the voltages you're putting in. Remember, the lowest value is used to start with so go a little bit higher each time, maybe 2-3 notches until the system posts. Remember, most MSI mobos have a clear cmos button at the back of the case (on the IO shield plate).

i set the CPU-NB VDD until 1.25v and everytime with a clear cmos. it's the same result my computer don't boot a cl7.
i have replace the ram with OCZ3P1600LV4GK and at 800 7,7,7,21 it's occt stable 1 hour.

                    Phenom II X6 1090T + 890FXA-UD7 + (F3-14400CL9D-4GFLS)

I have same issue as stated above, can't run at advertised frequency, my system won't boot. They can only do 1600mhz at advertised timings (9-9-9-24-2T) without any problem running my system (All are in default/auto settings in the bios except for ram multiplier which i changed to X8 and manual adjustmet of timings from 11-11-11-29-2T).

Already raised the ram voltage to 1.65v, changed cpu host frequency to 225 to get 1800mhz, and increase the nb control voltage to +.1, but still no effect..it won't boot.

Kindly need your help, any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks.

Try higher on the CPU-NB Voltage, +0.1V is for DDR3-1600.

                        Phenom II X6 1090T + 890FXA-UD7 + (F3-14400CL9D-4GFLS)

Here is the tweaks that i did, but still didn't boot, these are info that i did get from global g skill tech.

                        HT Voltage = 1.4
CPU NB VID Control = 1.23 (+.8) - more than .8 will be on redmarks
                        DRAM Voltage Control = 1.65
                        CPB = Disabled
                        CPU Voltage Control = 1.4
                        DRAM Multiplier = x8
                        CPU Host Frequency = 225
                        CPU Clock Ratio = X14

                        Heres what it states....

what's the bios version you use? try the 1.3
for me it's the only with 1.31 and 1.32 that works 900 7,8,7,24 but it's not fully stable...

I'm using F2 bios, it's a little bit risky flashing the bios that is why i didn't try to update it yet, the last time i updated it from F1 (my 1st board) to F3 almost only 2 weeks ago, the result didn't came good, upon restart my mb was totally blackout.. lolo then I sent it back for RMA... this is actually my 2nd board and luckily it came out with somehow much updated bios which is F2.

I really can't run my rams at advertised frequency, though they do run at advertised timings at 1600mhz only.

                            Thanks for the info!

BTW, we both have almost the same setup... haha!

Try it without the HT Voltage increase. It should be fine with just a CPU-NB Voltage bump..

With that error, one of the voltages must be wrong.

                              Thank you
