  • Mixing different speed DDR3

I have the opportunty to buy some 2x2GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600MHz 1.5v PC3-12800 RAM at a very good price.

My PC currently has 2 Patriot 1333MHz PC10600 CL9 RAM - the Motherboard is an ASUS P5Q3. The Patriot RAM is in slots 1 and 3.
The CPU is an Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 FSB 1333MHz LGA775

Can I simply install the G.Skill RAM into the slots 2 and 4?

I assume if the ASUS BIOS is left on AUTO it will downgrade the G.skill RAM speed to match the Patriot.

    Any suggestions/comments would be welcome

Not sure what chips they use, so you wil need to try it out. Shouldn't have a problem..

    Thank you
