  • Source for overclocking info

I have a GA P55A UD7, Ripjaws 16000 (am going to get 2 sticks of 4GB), and an I7 860. I have a very good cpu heatsink. I want to overclock it only to a point where it is quite stable. It is my regular-use machine so I want it as quick as I can get but not so I have to worry about it.

What I would like to find is a good source of information on how one goes about overclocking a system. I have never tried this before; but it seems like a good time to try. There are lots of sites on overclocking, but if there is a particular source that people have found understandable yet effective, that would be a good place for me to start.

I am not adverse to someone talking to me about recommendations for my specific configuration, but I would also like to understand what and why I would be doing things.

Yes Google is my friend; but an overly prolific friend. I am trying for a bit of intelligent pre-filtering.

Incidentally, for whatever reason, that you tube link hung my browser.
