  • System unstable m4A79XTD EVO/ Phenom II 965, please help

This is my first serious build, and I may be in over my head, as I'm running into some serious stability issues. Blue Screen/memory dump pretty regularly, at seemingly random times (usually preceded by tiling in videos on iTunes or Blue Ray, firefox crashing, Windows 7 randomly disabling then re enabling the transparency feature.) Problem not triggered by graphics intense games such as Bioshock. As far as i've been able to determine all my drivers are up to date.

Hi, I have also got this board with a AMD 965 125watt version, but just waiting for ram, its the 1600mhz CL7 one, have you updated the boards bios ? and also have you just left the ram at auto settings and see if its stable ?

just noticed you running at 666mhz which is 1333mhz, why dont you set it at 1600mhz in bios and also copy the timings in the second picture copy the XPM-1600 timings into the the bios

Ram is running on auto settings. Haven't updated BIOS, never flashed before, not sure how to go about it and seems scary. Do I need to update the bios?

ya its easy just save bios file on a usb stick, go into bios goto Asus EZ Flash utility and update bios from usb stick, also i think your timings are wrong aswell.

guide in the manual how to update bios, you can also do it within windows

            Thanks

Ok, I set it to 1600, now the timing appears to be off (I believe the timing for this ram is 9/9/9/24. I'm not sure how to manually change that in the BIOS.
