  • Trident-X 2400 on Crosshair v formula-z

Hi, I ordered an Asus Crosshair V Formula-z and was wondering if the Trident-x 2400 kit is a good choice for for my setup. My CPU is an FX-8320E

If my IMC does not like running RAM at 2400, would it be as simple as just lowering the speed and timings to get them in shape?

Also I was was wondering how tall these sticks are after removing the fins, are they 39mm with the fins removed? I have a very large air cooler (Cryorig R1 Ultimate) and 40mm is about as tall as I can go.

    Thanks a lot.

    Edit:

I have confirmed that they are 39mm with he fins removed. And according to another thread I should be able to under-clock them if I should run in to any issues while running them at 2400.

If there is any other info I should be aware of, please let me know.

    Thanks again.

Yup. Low CL is very good for FXs.

If it wont run at 2400 CL10 for one reason or another. IMC, requires too much voltage Then you can try 2200 CL9 which is actually a touch faster then 2400 CL10.

If the IMC is fairly weak then it might require the CPU to be overclocked in order to reach those speeds.

They are 54mm with heatsinks and 39 without

I tend to run anything from 1866 CL8 to 2200 CL9 with my Trident X.

Thanks a lot man, good to know. I am currently running the 8320E at 4.6GHz (multi only) on an Asrock 990FX Pro. with some old 1333 Rip-Jaws. When I receive the Crosshair and Trident-X we will see how things go.

      Thanks again
