  • Problem booting with new RAM sticks

    Hello, I need some support on some RAM sticks I had purchased for my dad's laptop. I had gotten this set: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GRSL

from NewEgg for my dad (and this was an exchange/RMA purchase after the original 8gb stick I got him didn't work (turned out his laptop only supports up to 4gb in each slot). It arrived at the end of last week, and he called me up to tell me that he was experiencing the same issues as with the 8gb module: computer would go through boot, get to the loading Windows, and then reboot to the Startup Repair prompt, no matter what he's tried, including Safe Mode it's an endless loop. When he looks in his BIOS, however, it reads the memory sticks as being present and working.

    He has an: Acer 5733Z-4851

Is it a compatibility issue, or are the sticks possibly bad?

That RAM is not compatible, you need the G.Skill F3-8500CL7D-8GBSQ
