Hello guys!
I am about to build a new rig and I need 64 gb of RAM, mainly for 3D sculpting/modeling/rendering, high res photoshopping and whatnot.
The rig I had in mind would go as follow:
-Asus P9x79 Deluxe. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16813131799
-G Skill 64gb RipjawZ http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820231523
-GPU - Asus GTX 680 4GB
-Corsair 1200W PSU
-CPU 3930K Hexacore + Corsair H110 Watercooler block.
So my questions are:
1) Is this build ok for its intented purposes? (I arlready have the GPU, PSU and Cooler block)
2) Memory timings are a bit overwhelming: Can I run this rig at maximum clock speed with XMP profile 1 or 2 and not get BSODs? I can't find some recent benchmarks on memory stress tests with 64gb kits, could anybody here share some insight as to if I will see a practical difference with this kit and memory running at 1666 (for example).
3) I read in another thread that OC the CPU is sometimes required for memory to operate at that speed. Will my cooler do? Will I damage my CPU? I can't seem to find definitive info on this, some say it's fine, some say it's not. Stability is a priority here.
Thank you very much in advance and hope I am not asking something too obvious, I did my best to research and search the forums but I rather ask before shelling another 2K.
Hope to hear from you guys soon!
