  • Ripjaws X 2133 on X79 platform, can't find any?

Will my ripjaws Model F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL run on X79 board? Looking to upgrade to X79 platform with i7 3930k.......Can't seem to find my ram on any of the X79 QVL's. Also, Gskill site does not list my ram or any other X79 boards that for that matter. Getting either a ASrock X79 Extreme 6 or a Asus P9X79. I would hate to have to buy another 16gb kit, only 1 yr old.

    Intel i7 2600k 3.4Ghz OC to 4.7Ghz
    Gigabyte Z68 UD3H-B3
    Crucial M4 128Gb SSD
    Gskill RipjawsX PC17000 16Gb (2133Mhz OC to 2230Mhz)
MSI 560 gtx ti Hawk (950/2100 Mhz OC to 1150/2320 Mhz)
    Corsair TX850M PSU
    Coolermaster Hyper 212+
    Asus 24” 2ms 1920x1080p HDMI Monitor
Logitech 7.1 6 Speaker Surround Sound System

Yes, shoulsd be no problem, I'd lean towards the ASRock mobo of the two, you'll love the quadchannel DRAM performance.

Decided to go with ASrock X79 Extreme 6 and paired it with i7 3930k.....Having issues getting Ram to run over 1600Mhz, tried XMP 1.2 and PC won't boot, tried setting manually 1866 and 2133 still no post. Only runs at 1600, installed sticks in correct slots as per ASrock, A1,B1,C1,D1? Did not bother to flash bios because i have version 2.20 which is latest at ASrock website......Right now sticks are running at a stable 1600Mhz with timings of 9-9-9-27-1T but was informed that my Gskill should have no problems being recognized by board and run at rated speed of 2133Mhz. Never had a problem running these on my Gigabyte Z68 using XMP. What could be the issue here?

The BIOS might not be up to speed for the set, try enabling XMP and manually set the freq to 1866, then boot, go back into BIOS and let me know what the timings are set to (both the base and the advanced), the CPU OC and the system voltages

I have tried setting XMP and manually setting to 1866 but it won't boot. Have to then clear bios, it defaults to 1600Mhz with timings of 11-11-11-28-1T at 1.605 V. My board supports both XMP 1.2 and 1.3 and shows profile 1 as being 11-11-11-30-1T if it were actually going to work. I can lower my timings down to 8-8-8-24-1T but i don't score nearly as well using MaxxMem Test as i was when my sticks were running at 2133Mhz the way they are supposed to. I have a mild overclock on CPU right now of 4.2Ghz without touching the voltage, it shows 0.906 V using CPU-Z and CPUID and shows up in bios reading 1.152 V.

You'll prob want 2T at the higher freqs, and try to get stable there, then can try tightening to 1T with slight voltage increases
