  • ASUS Rampage IV Extreme + 64GB G.Skill

    Hi Guys,

need some help with my brandnew (today shipped) RipjawsZ DIMM 64 GB DDR3-1600 Octo-Kit [3-12800CL10Q2-64GBZL].

I installed it today, but got the issue that the Mobo does detect all 8 Rammodules but tell me i only got 48GB Ram in case of 64GB. Also my OS tell me i only got 48GB installed...

I read about enabling XMP and change some voltages by hand but im a bit afraid of it cause im doing so for the first time. Anyone there who can guide my step by step through the process?

First of all thank for the howto.

      I did the changes:

      1. updating bios to 2105 (which is the latest version) - here i lost my mouse in the bios, but thats not the point :-)
      2. activating X.M.P.
      3. changing the Rampage Tweak to Mode 1
      4. adjust the voltage for CPU VCCSA to 1.250V (in manual Mode)

But i only got 49152MB Ram for the complete kit at 1600Mhz in the main menu and my os.

I checked "\Extreme Tweaker\ GPU/DIMM Post\ DIMM Post" to make sure all 8 modules are working.
Here i can see that A1, A2, B1,B2,C1,C2,D1 and also D2 are working all with "DDR3 1333Mhz, running at 1600Mhz.

      Any other ideas?

Or is the mobo not supporting 64GB?
      Are the modules broken?
Is the mobo not working correctly?

I choosed this kit from the ram configurator because the board is on the qualified mobo list http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=432

Could you post your BIOS settings primarily voltages and Advanced system timings - might check the MC voltage - want about 1.2 (believe it's CPUVTT or like that on your mobo)

Double check CPU installation as well. Hard reset, enable XMP, then see what it shows. It should be some sort of installation problem, memory should automatically detect perfectly with XMP enabled.

                  Thank you

                    Need to request.

What do you mean with "Double check CPU installation as well"? Do you want to check me the physically installation of the cpu?
What do you mean with "hard reset"?

                    Thanks for your answers :-)

On the CPU installation, pulling the CPU, look for anything on bottom of CPU or in the socket, check all the pins carefully for bent or broken ones. Hard reset can be that some mobos have a reset button that takes everything to defualt states or can clear the CMOS, generally there's a jumper on the mobo (check your manual), or can pull CMOS battery out with power unplugged for about 15 seconds or so then reinstall, plug in and power up

Okay here we got it... mobo cpu have some pins out of range. You can only see it if you got a flashlight in the correct position on the cpu case.

Have to get back to you in 1 or 2 weeks since my board will be back in a better condition.

Sry for my late reply but its solved
