  • Blue screen with 4 gigs on a Gateway MT6728 laptop

    Hi all,

I am having an issue installing a 2 x 2 gigabyte set of F2-5300CL4FD-4GBSQ in a Gateway MT6728 laptop. When both modules are installed the computer blue screens at boot with the following error pfn_list_corrupt. If I try either stick individually Windows will boot up with no problem so I doubt I have a bad stick of ram. This leads me to suspect either a hardware incompatibility or possibly I need to flash the bios. I also tried a fresh OS install of Vista 64 bit and got the same error when it tried to boot into the install disc.

    Specs:

    Gateway MT6728 laptop

    Cpu: Pentium T2330

ChipsetL: Intel GL960 (part of the Intel 965 family of chipsets)

    Southbridge: Intel 82801HBM

OS: Windows Vista (not sure if its 32 or 64 bit)

    Bios version: 93.08 released 11/08/2007

    memory: G.Skill F2-5300CL4D-4GBSQ

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

You'll definitely want the latest BIOS, sounds like your system may be having trouble with the CL4. You may need to purchase the CL5 instead.

    Thank you
