  • F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ Need Help with Bios Settings for Timings

    Hello everyone:

    I'm new to the forum.

I just built a computer and am having trouble with my ram timings.

    Ram: G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ

    Motherboard: Jetway PN78VM2 (http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/spec/PN78VM2.pdf)

    OS: Vista 64

Below are my current settings under Advanced Chipest Features - DRAM Configuration:

Please advise as to which settings I need to change so that the timing of my ram is correct. Thank you in advance.

    Auto Configuration - Manual
    DRAM CAS Latency - 5T
    Min RAS# Active Time (Tras) - 15T
Row Precharge Time (Trp) - 5T
    RAS# to CAS# Delay (Trcd) - 5T
    Dram Command Rate - 2T
    Dram Bank Interleaving - Enabled

    DDRII Timing Item - Enabled
TwTr COmmand Delay - 4 bus clocks
    Trfc0 for DIMM0 - 127ns
    Trfc1 for DIMM1 - 127ns
(Twr) Write Recovery Time - 8 bus clocks
(Trtp) Precharge Time - 4 Clocks
(Trc) Row Cycle Time - 30 bus clocks
(Trrd) RAS to RAS Delay - 6 clocks

save and exit. Let me know how it goes.

    Thank you

Thank you for the quick reply. When I go to set the timings manually I receive the following options:

So for example, and just to be completely clear, let's say i'm setting the Row Precharge Time (Trp). Should I select 3T/5T or 5T/7T?

Why are there two different numbers listed? Thank you again!

Should say right there to the right (Item help). I believe you should go with 3T/5T since the right side is for 1066 I believe..

The Ram is DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) so wouldn't I go with the left? It just confused me when you referenced 1066.

Whoops! Sorry for that mistake, so 5T/7T would be correct.

No worries, I just wanted to make sure. Would you still recommend the above changes for DDR2 800? I'm not sure if you were giving me specs for 1066, so again I just want to be crystal clear before I change anything. I'm probably overly paranoid, but I just don't want to mess anything up. Thanks again!

Yes, the changes in post #2 still apply, I just thought you had 1066 for a moment when you asked about the 2 seperate timings.

Are you having any stability issues? Make sure your memory voltage is set as well.

                Thank you

I went to make the recommended changes, but unfortunately the following settings were not possible:

TwTr COmmand Delay - 4 bus clocks (Only goes to 3 bus clocks)
(Twr) Write Recovery Time - 8 bus clocks (Only goes to 6 bus clocks)
(Trtp) Precharge Time - 4 Clocks (Only goes to 3 bus clocks)
(Trc) Row Cycle Time - 30 bus clocks (Only goes to 26 bus clocks)
(Trrd) RAS to RAS Delay - 6 clocks (Only goes to 5 bus clocks)

I'm not having any stability issues, I just want to make sure the Ram is set correctly, because the autodetect timings seem pretty far off G.Skill specs.

I see, if you are not having any stability issues then just change the basic timings, not the advanced timings. I was under the impression that you were having stability issues.

Just change these for the basic timings:

                    Auto Configuration - Manual
                    DRAM CAS Latency - 5T
                    Min RAS# Active Time (Tras) - 15T
Row Precharge Time (Trp) - 5T
                    RAS# to CAS# Delay (Trcd) - 5T
                    Dram Command Rate - 2T
                    Dram Bank Interleaving - Enabled

And that should be good enough. =)

                    DDRII Timing Item - Disabled
TwTr COmmand Delay - 3 bus clocks
                    Trfc0 for DIMM0 - 75ns
                    Trfc1 for DIMM1 - 75ns
(Twr) Write Recovery Time - 6 bus clocks
(Trtp) Precharge Time - 3 Clocks
(Trc) Row Cycle Time - 26 bus clocks
(Trrd) RAS to RAS Delay - 5 clocks

                    Thank you
