For all basic uses yes. The ones with the spreader are possibly more overclockable since they will stay cooler with the spreader, however if you just want to drop them in and have them work there is no difference. I always buy memory with a spreader more for the protection than the actual thermal properties. I broke a spreaderless stick a few years back and haven't bought one since.
thank you for such a quick response. i always get memory with the spreader too but this is for someone else. it's an older pc and he wants to save a couple of bucks. i just wanted to make sure it was the same. thanks again.
