  • Can I use DDR3 1600MHz on a P45 board with intel Q6600

    Hi

    i bought a G.Skill kit of 8GB memory : G.SkiLL F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

im using an Asus P5Q3 (LGA775) board that has P45 intel chipset
    and a Q6600 cpu...

Can i use all these together with G.Skill memories at 1600MHz ?
i couldnt set that way... now im using at 1400Mhz cl8...

Yes, but you will need to overclock the CPU FSB to 1600MHz. DRAM Frequency can only go as fast as CPU FSB.

    DDR3-1400MHz CL8 is very good.

    Thank you

      now FSB is at 350MHz

My cpu Q6600 has ratio 9, but now im using ratio 8...

      FSB : 350
      CPU : 350x8 = 2800MHz
      Dram : 350x4 = 1400MHz
      FSB : DRAM (ratio) = 2:1

When i set FSB = 400MHz , i get blue screen and PC restarting...
i tried XMP profile but again i got blue screen and reset...

Some of my friends said this memories are designed to use in SandyBridge systems and cannot run at 1600MHz on P45 - LGA775 system... is that right ?

if i can use which options i shuld set manually on AI Tweaker ?
is there any example with the same Motherboard and CPU in DDR3 BIOS Configuration Guides ?? i couldnt find ...

      Thanks for reply

If you can't run 1600 FSB (you should be able to if your CPU is a G0 model, harder with the early B3 6600, will require a vCore voltage of about 1.34) and want to run 1400 try the sticks with the base timings at 8-8-8-24, CR at 2T, and DRAM voltage at 1.6

Manual settings are required. XMP will not work because the memory is optimized for SandyBridge, but the memory can work.

Can you post pictures of your current best settings?

          Thank you

if u mean pictures of bios ... i cannot take them
but i can tell the options ive changed... these are to show what my bios looks like...

            AI OC Tuner : Manual
            CPU Ratio : 8.0
            FSB : 350 mhz
            PCI-Ex : 100
            DRAM : 1400 mhz

            DRam Timings
            : 8
            : 8
            : 8
            : 24

            CPU Voltage : 1.25 (my cpu is Q6600 G0 - vid2125)

            DRam Voltage : 1.66

DRam OC etc... : Enabled (it says it is related with DRam OC - so i set it enabled)

            Load-Line Calibration : Enabled

            and the rest are AUTO...

I'd raise vCore to 1.3 (it's safe up to 1.3625 and raise the NB voltage up a tad from where ever it's at on AUTO (maybe +.05 to + .07), the NB (NorthBridge) is where your MC (Memory Controller) is, and the P45 mobos are normally tuned towards 2 GB sticks, whereas you have 4GB

Have you tried DDR3-1333 (no OC)?

If you can't take pics, can you list the advanced timings? I would like to make sure they are detected correctly.

                Thank you

How can i raise NB voltage... it says its AUTO... i dont know how much Auto means so i raise a bit !!!

and how can i get pics of Advanced Timings ... it says Auto for everything else
                  i can see only 8-8-8-24 ...

Select it, and it should allow for a variety of options, might try 1.24 and see on the NB, once you make a selection it should show in a column on the right and with the default on the left
