I just put together a new system together and I'm completely in love.

Finally got these to run @ 1600mhz stable. (Many helpful threads here)
I don't know why Asus put auto voltage of 1.4 when XMP is enabled.
Anyhow...

Shouldn't my max bandwidth be pc3-12800?

Looks like CPU-Z is reading the sticks right, the max bandwidth is being read as the mobos default DRAM speed

Oh man.. I spoke too soon.


I ran prime95 overnight no problems.. so I thought my settings stuck.
But I just got a Bluescreen while gaming and alt tabbed =(


I'm on a Asus P6X58D Premium:

this is my stable setup:

haven't crashed once with these settings... but I'm running at low freq...




1600mhz setup:

XMP enabled.. QDI/DRAM Core Voltage set to Auto.
[I just crashed in this setup, runs stable for a while]





Should I keep changing QDI/DRAM settings until I find a sweet spot?

I am no longer getting BSOD, 101 & 124 messages. I think I got the right voltage settings.

However, I am still failing to get a stable system.
I read the Asus p6x58d manual fully, and under memory configurations it states:

"Due to Intel spec definition, X.M.P. DIMMs and DDR3-1600 are supported for one DIMM per channel only"


Is this what's creating me to crash?? (Freeze.. not BSOD)
I'm using 4x4GB.
A2,A1,B1, C1 are being used.



My Channel A slots are both filled, should I take 1 DIMM out?
so then I'd have 3x4GB. A1, B1, C1.
Will this stabilize my system?

Right, anything above DDR3-1333 CL9 is only guaranteed for 3 sticks. But, you can counter this by raising the QPI/DRAM Voltage.

If you are having a problem, try 3 modules first. The results will help me understand what the problem is.

I thought 3 DIMMs was going to fix it, it made it 30 minutes into prime95 torture before freezing(again, no blue screen just hang up) on me though..


It froze on me @ 1333mhz too(4 dimm)


Only 1066mhz has been stable (4 and 3 dimm)




Blah.. what now?

I'm 1:30hrs on prime95 blend @ 1333mhz with 3 DIMMs.
Update: *This seems stable, overnight prime95 no problems*


My next goal is to be able to run @ 1600mhz with 3 DIMMs.
I am embarassed to ask, but how do I see what the bios is setting for QPI/DRAM = [Auto]? (I set to [Auto], reboot into bios, but there is no indication anywhere of the voltage being used)



I've read that its difficult for the p6x58d to handle anything over 1333mhz for 12GB and up.
I'm guessing I'm going to have to bump my QPI quite a bit to try to get stable...

Set it manually to a value save, and then reboot, it should then show the value you input and the default value of the setting next to it.

Just give it a slight bump and see how it works.. like 1.15V-1.20V.

I found a stable setup with a small OC that passed prime95 blend 300 tests (10 hours) with 0 errors.


Multi = 22x
BLCK = 160
(3520mhz)
Vcore = 1.228v (34*C idle/ 55*C load)
QPI = 1.29375v
Ram freq = 1604mhz
3-DIMMs


So there's my best results for 3-DIMM configuration.

What things should I be on the lookout when I attempt 4-DIMMs?

**Update Help**


After finding a "stable" settings:
160blck
ram 1600 mhz - QPI 1.31250v
cpu 3840 mhz - vCore 1.2375v
4 dimms loaded (4x4gb)


This setting is no longer stable. It crashes within 5 minutes prime95 blend tests.

My 3-dimm @1600mhz configuration does not work either. (vcore 1.2375/qpi 1.29375)

I haven't been able to find a stable 1333mhz either.


As of now, it seems 1066mhz is the only way to be stable.

Current setup:
133 blck
cpu - auto - vcore - auto
ram 1066 - qpi - 1.21250v
4-dimms








PLEASE HELP, this is driving me nuts. Why do settings that used to work, no longer work?
I noticed, maybe coincidence, but these settings became an issue when I moved houses...


I've tried ALL QPI Voltages 1.2 ~ 1.45v range. nothing gives me stability.
Are there any other settings that may require tweaking??
