  • CPU/RAM/Motherboard compatibility check

    Hello,

which RAM should I buy for "only" Gaming and a bit of OC?
1333 or 1600? compatibility? otherwise both are listed under QVL of the Mainboard.

    1. F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK
    2. F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM
    -----------------------------
    3. F3-10600CL8D-4GBRM (I think its the same one as 2. but 1333Mhz)

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE (C3)
    MAINBOARD: Asus M4A88T-V EVO/USB3

    Thanks in advance.

Of the two, for the least problems I'd go with the F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK, according to AMD the officially only support up to 1333 w/ the Phenom II line. You might get 1600 sticks to run but it can be very irksome, especially with the EVO as you might see perusing the forums. Mobo and DRAM makers list the highest DRAM speeds they can accomplish with their products, but never state what CPU is used w/ the testing.....and normally it is top of the line and sometimes OCed i.e. a Thuban or say an OCed 965 in this case.

ok first of all i'll purchase a DDR3-1333 but are there any diffrence between:

      1. F3-10600CL8D-4GB (HK)
      2. F3-10600CL8D-4GB (RM)

maybe better or faster? both are "1333" but the second one is one of the Ripjaws series. I've heard that these ones are desinged for Gamers and OC. not sure ?!

Ripjaws are a newer model using newer ICs @ 1333 might look at F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL (CL9), or F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM (CL8) or F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH (CL7). Note the L, M, H at end of model #, Low, Medium, High, the RH at CL7 provides the best performance

thanks for the response last question here: If I purchase these sticks "F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH (CL7)" will it work smoothly or should i'd go with these ones "F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK"?

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE (C3)
          MAINBOARD: Asus M4A88T-V EVO/USB3

          Note: the "F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH (CL7)" is cheaper then "F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK (CL8)" ..

Both are good sets, I, personally like the RipJaws better. Another plus is that they are rated for CL7, which is faster than CL8 and offers more room for tweaking if needed which is a plus for gaming, high performance, and a newer design/ICs, etc.

and that means, both will work? but the Ripjaws are better.

otherweise thanks for your help I appreciate it.
