  • Cold Boot BSOD Ripjaws Z Series 16GB DDR3 2133

I just put together a new build and it seems like every time i cold boot (turn it on after it being off for awhile) i get a bsod everytime after about ten minutes. I ran a memtest for about 30 minutes and it found no errors. I also ran a full CHKDSK and no errors as well. After i get the bsod the system restarts and i then have no crashes after. But after i power down and then turn it back on later i get the same bsod. I found another user on the internet with the same exact problem who has the same ram/mobo/cpu as i do so i am thinking it might be the ram. I am running the ram at XMP (2133, 9 11 10 28 2T, 1.65v). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, did you check Events Viewer around the same time the BSOD happened. Are there any crashed services listed there ? Do you notice any software crash after desktop is loaded ?

Btw, with 4 sticks you may need a bit more voltage on VCCIO (memory controller voltage). You can try VCCIO 1.1v

Couple of possibles, might look at

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929338

they have a fix that may help, another possible would be to increase DRAM voltage, just a little +.03 or so, because it also may be insufficient voltage regulation through the mobo or from the PSU

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

I tried setting the DRAM voltage to 1.680 and the VCCSA to 1.100 and now instead of a bsod i got an error message saying something like windows encountered an error and must shut down you have one minute to save. After it restart an hour after that my computer just completely froze up and i had to hold down the power to shut down.
I have all of the windows updates installed.
The only things i can really find in the event viewer are:
        the previous shutdown was unexpected.
        and
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
        and
The Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar service terminated with the following error:
Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar is not a valid Win32 application.

Ok you don't touch VCCSA, put it back to auto. You change VCCIO, which is related to memory controller inside cpu.
