I know there would not be a problem returning the last 2 sticks of ram to Newegg on exchange for the Crucial Ram.. But the first set I ordered on 7/27 there is going to be a problem with newegg!! They are only going to refer me to GSkill which I know they are monitoring these posts and as a token of good will offer me a refund on the first 2 sets of ram. And if they read the posts and the problems I have had, I am sure they will They can contact me at geojo12@citlink.net

I downloaded the cpuid from my laptop (56k modem) and installed it on my new computer. I cannot validate it because there is no 56K modem on the new one. But I did get the program installed and if there is any information you can use from it, I can send it to you by typing

I am returning to NYS next week where I have DSL which will be a great help

      "Memory_Management"

Could this have anything to to with my Bios Config???(Bios settings in post#34)

Is this with G Skill 8500 memory or another brand?

I personally would try another set of memory sticks (different than the ones you are using) to see if it is the memory or board, I suspect the memory is bad. The board you have is a great board!!

Also, check these again, I changed the system memory multiplier to a manual setting:

you have a q9550 it has virtualization. But the option can also be checked disabled too. It is used for things like VM, (virtual machine), 3 d rendering,etc..

With the settings on our guide for this motherboard, the DDR2-1066 PK memory will definitely work. If the memory is defective, we will be glad to replace it with a new set. Please refer to our website gskill.com for complete RMA procedures.

I redid those bio settings you gave me last week, and could not get into windows without being in the safe mode. Ran a memtest and it came up with errors***** So, I went back to my old settings. Everything then was working OK (with the old settings) with no problems Until I started adding programs. For instance, if I tried to install my scanner - I would come up with a "Memory management error". And this was the same for some other programs(not all of them). If I tried to change my start menu by going into the MS config and running it to alter my start up programs, as soon as I clicked apply - I get this management error again. My real-tech audio driver (came with the Mobo} failed on the windows update download. Yet, when I go into my divice manager, it says that the driver is installed and working properly. Would the memory management errors have anything to do with the ram?????
Last night I did a mem86 test on the ram and let it run all night with no errors.

                Gskill Tech
Today, I decided to use the settings you have on your sticky note for setting up the Bios at MIT.
I made changes to all the setting exactly as it was in your set up notes for the Bios
I changed the settings in the advance timing control tRFC to 80 saved and rebooted the computer. Windows came up normally, but when I clicked on the start button, it froze up. I did a mem86 test and came up with about 50 errors within one minute, so I rebooted the computer and changed the tRFC in the advanced timing control to auto, then saved and exited into windows. When windows came up, I restarted the computer and did a mem 86 again. After about 2 minutes, I started getting errors up. I know my Bios settings were done correctly and I always loaded and saved my optimized defaults before making any changes in the Bios.
When I was running the last mem test 86, I noticed that the setting on the mem test board were:
RAM:533MHZ(/ddr1066/cas5-7-7-20/Dual Channel. I know that I had the CAS settings at 5-5-5-15 and they changed. So, this is where I stand right now.

I hope I can get these problems solved. I can see that this ram is having its troubles with these motherboards.

memtest typically doesn't read timings very well, try CPU-z or Everest. Try testing each stick individually to see if you have a bad stick. What slots do you have them installed in?

they are in all 4 slots.

Does the memory management error have anything to do with the RAM???

I downloaded the CPU-Z. I can't find any help files on how to use it. Can you direct me to the right place or tell me how to run the RAM tests.

                      Thanks

                        Samsung 22X DVD+R
                        LG Network Blue-ray Player

I have been trying to get this PC together for over a month now and all I been with is problems one after another.

when I finally got vista installed I was getting "Blue Screen Dump Errors". I ran memtest86 on the ram and came up with many errors. I configured the bios CPU Frequency to run at 3.20GHz, The Memory Frequency 1066- 800. (slightly underclocked). I ran the memtest 86 again and came up with no errors. When I try to change setting according to the GSkill support, I come up with ram errors..

Right now I am getting Blue Screen"Memory Management Errors" When I try to install some programs and update my drivers like:

This is what I can't get going

1... As soon as I go into my system config to disable my start-up programs (Now, I can only do this in safe mode) and all my system restores fail

2... Try to update my audo drivers,( Real-Tech , which came on the MoBo),Adobe Flash refuses to install , Scanner Software (in the windows mode)

                        Things I could Install
                        Blue-ray DVD RW
Printer and drivers(which I now uninstalled the drivers and have disconnected)
Programs downloaded from the internet, and programs like word, quicken etc.

I thought that it was just an incompatibility with the Mobo and the ram. Because that was all I heard on different forums. But when you think of it, people only post on these forums with problems and not with successful installs. I went to the newegg website and looked at most of all the feedbacks (a few hundred) for my mobo(Gigabyte EP45-UD3P). There are plenty people there used my ram and mobo and had successful installs. I have done so many memtest86 the last few weeks, I think I am wearing out the disk.!
I am now coming to the conclusion that it was the way windows was installed and the problem " lies on me "
I want to reinstall Vista 64 bit and see if I can get it right this time. But I would like to go thru a list of questions first so I don't end up with the same problems again..

I guess I would do a clean install

1... I have my HD disk utilities (Western Digital) and I will format it to all zeroes

2.... After the disk is formatted and before I install vista :
                        Should I reset the bios?

Do I have to "load to "Optimized Defaults"?

I am pretty sure that I have to go into the bios M.I.T and make changes there etc. What are they???

I think this might have been a problem before because I did not make changes
and the voltage should have been manually set to 2.1. I think the GSkill mem will not run on auto. Or it could have been something in the install process that I screwed up.

3... Before I install vista should I use 2gb of mem or 4gb and what slots?? Because I could not get them to install in slots 1 and 3 the last time and had to use slots 2 and 4

And because of this problem I sent the mem and the mobo back to Newegg on an exchange

I know I did not get the same ones back.

But the second time around I ended up with the same problems anyway. Now I am thinking that the bios should have been edited to GSkill spec. before installing Vista.

And if I can get this installed correctly I am only going to run it on 4gb of mem.
From what I heard this will make it run more stable..

The main thing is I will be just planning as a new install on a home built computer
what bios changes do i make before installing vista?
do I install with 2gb or 4gb of mem
                        what slots will I use?

As you can see, I need all the help I can get!.. But please try to answer all the questions and make them as simple as possible. I am not a wiz at this.

                        Thanks

When you save the BIOS settings, simply press F10 and select yes. Don't load optimized defaults or such as that simply reverts everything back to original settings.

Try 2 sticks in slots 2 and 4 with the settings then install Windows. You should have no issues.

Keep us posted on the results.

                            Hi GSkill Support

So you read my previous post and this is all I have to do?

And you are just telling me to keep the bios settings the same after I format the drive and not to change anything even though I was running 8gb mem before and now I will be running 4gb mem now?

Is this the normal way to install vista in slots 2 and 4??

Why is the best way to install Vista is in slots 2 and 4 and not 1 and 3?

Is there something wrong with the ram that it does not work on 1 and 3?

Could this be part of the problem why I have the MEMORY MANAGEMENT ERRORS by installing vista on slots 2 and 4 on my last install..

                            Thank you

The BIOS settings in our guide will definitely work for that motherboard. 4GB and 8GB settings have been proven many times. If it does not work, it is a hardware issue.

The slot issue is an odd case that we have discovered. Only this particular motherboard has this issue and it is not a memory issue. Try testing both sets in slots 2 and 4 first, then try them together.

                              Thank you

I have been running memtest every day and every way with no errors

GSkill tech says after I format do the bios as said using my old settings. Don't change anything and don't load optimized defaults

Gigabyte says this: Version 1.6 boards have been known to cause issues, but in general (at least for 1.0 and 1.1 boards) that GSkill is highly compatible.

8GB of RAM is certainly overkill for gaming. Most game processes are still 32 bit and can't actually address more than 2GB any way. Having 4Gb of ram ensures there is the maximum 2GB addressable RAM available to any given game. 2GB of physical RAM is not enough as the OS etc would take chunks out of it.

To install using slots 2 & 4, install all 4Gb and enter the BIOS. Load Optimized Defaults, then save and exit. Re enter the BIOS and go to the MIT section. Turn off any "XMP" entry if it's visible and set the primary timings manually to the specs of your RAM (5-5-5-15). Also set the RAM voltage to the maximum written on the module (2.1V for your kit)

Check that The RAM speed reading is saying 1066 or very close to it. If it is you're set. Any problems with the Vista install or stability you may have to go back and set RAM multi's manually. Forget about that for now though. The target atm is to get a bootable, functioning system, and auto settings should work for that current goal. You aren't over clocking, so auto voltages will be perfectly safe.

Now I have 2 different people saying all two different things
